The Rainbow Program is a research based early intervention program aimed at the following objectives:

The Rainbow Program is available at all of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Elementary School Sites. Paraprofessionals are trained and staffed to work with students in the program.  Once every two weeks, the paraprofessionals meet with the Rainbow Program Coordinator for consultation on the students in the program.

The Rainbow Program offers the following individualized and social skills programs:

Rainbow Program: Check-In/Check-Out (CICO)

The Rainbow Program offers additional support for students who may benefit from more structure, encouragement, and positive connections throughout their school day. One of the strategies we use is called Check-In/Check-Out (CICO).  CICO helps students check-in and out  with a caring adult who provides guidance, encouragement, and consistency. Students “check in” to review goals and have a positive connection. During the school day, teachers provide feedback and encouragement to help students stay on track. Students then “check out” with the same adult to reflect on progress, celebrate successes, and continue to work on achieving set goals.  This process helps students build confidence, stay engaged, and develop positive routines, while also strengthening the connection between home and school. Parents are encouraged to review progress sheets so that encouragement and recognition continue at home.  Through CICO, the Rainbow Program provides students with the reassurance and structure they need to feel supported, successful, and connected at school.
