Principal's Message

Hello Hawks!

Welcome to another great year at Hidden Hills!  My name is Melodie Huynh, and I have served as Principal here for the past 13 years.  I love this community and I am so proud to be part of our HH family!

I have been working in the field of Education for over thirty years.  After graduating from the University of Victoria, I began my career teaching middle school on Vancouver Island.  I then moved from Canada to California and started teaching high school Special Education at Castro Valley High School.  After that, I taught in the elementary grades for ten years, and then was asked to become principal of our summer school programs.  I then served as an elementary principal in Castro Valley Unified, first at Palomares Elementary and later at Jensen Ranch Elementary.  I also worked as a Curriculum Coordinator at the district level, overseeing our English-language arts programs.  I am so proud to say that all three schools were awarded the National Blue Ribbon Award, and multiple California Distinguished School Awards, during my tenure.  This is such a testament to the commitment of our families, the dedication of our staff, and the hard-work and effort of our students.

It is my hope to model what it means to be a lifelong learner.  In addition to my multiple-subject teaching credential and my administrative services credential, I have a Masters of Science Degree (Data Analytics) and a Doctoral Degree (Educational Leadership).  This fall, I am starting a two-year creative writing program through Stanford.  Since I was in elementary school myself, my dream has always been to write children's novels.

I have two, now adult, children of my own, Ethan and Maddie.  My husband and I love all things SF49ers and NHL Hockey (I am a loyal Sharks fan, while he cheers for the Vancouver Canucks).  We have two fur-babies at home with us, Milo and Otis, who keep us on our toes!

From the moment I first joined the Hidden Hills community all those years ago, I felt like I was home.  It is my goal to make all of our students, staff, and families feel the same way.  Please let me know how I can make this year the best ever for you and your children!

My door is always open.
