NATIONAL BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY

NATIONAL BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY

Strap on your helmets, raise your kickstands, and join the thousands of students, families, community partners, and elected officials all around the country who will be participating in this year's Bike to School Day.

Participants kicked off last year's ride in record breaking numbers! Thousands of students pedaled their way to school during the Bike to School Day celebration! Over 3,000 schools across the country, from D.C. to Hawaii participated.

Let's celebrate Bike to School Day by riding your bike or walking to school!
Street Smarts teaches kids about bicycle safety by putting on several bike rodeos each year at elementary schools in the San Ramon Valley.

Bike rodeos are an opportunity for children to learn about the safety aspects of riding a bicycle in a safe, controlled, hands-on environment.  Bike rodeos are oftentimes a child’s only opportunity to learn the rules of the road, have their helmet properly checked and practice riding their bike in a supervised bicycle course.  All students at the school are encouraged to bike to school on the day of the event. The bike rodeo takes place after school on the school blacktop and typically lasts one hour.
